A Request to Visitors Regarding Heatstroke Prevention

1. Make sure to stay well-hydrated

The POCARI SWEAT booth, the official bar at SUMMER SONIC, offers a wide variety of drinks.
Be sure to replenish the fluids and electrolytes you lose during your activities as soon as possible.
It is said that waiting until you feel thirsty to hydrate is not enough to fully replenish the fluids lost during exercise.
Stay hydrated by drinking before you feel thirsty. Replenishing salt with salt tablets or salt-flavored candies is also effective.
*At the Tokyo venue, you may bring sports drinks into the Marine Stadium Arena.

2. Make Effective Use of the Break Area

At SUMMER SONIC TOKYO, Hall 9 of Makuhari Messe will once again open as a spacious indoor rest area this year.
At SUMMER SONIC OSAKA, you can use the free tent area and the central rest area within the Japanese garden on the festival grounds.
We have also set up sunshade tents and other areas where you can escape the sun, so please make use of them.
Let’s reduce the risk of heatstroke by staying out of the sun.

As part of our heatstroke prevention measures, we will allow visitors to bring and use foldable sun umbrellas inside the venue.

[Regarding the Use of Sun Umbrellas at the Tokyo Venue]
・Umbrellas are prohibited inside the Makuhari Messe building.
・In the live performance viewing areas of the Marine Stage and Beach Stage, as well as in the stands at Marine Stadium, umbrellas may be used until the performance begins, but please fold them up before the performance starts.
*Depending on crowd conditions, staff may ask you to fold up your umbrella even in areas where it is permitted; we appreciate your cooperation in such cases.
・Please refrain from using umbrellas during times of high congestion, even outside the live performance viewing areas.
・The use of umbrellas is prohibited in rainy weather.

[Regarding the Use of Sun Umbrellas at the Osaka Venue]
Please promptly stop using small parasols during performances, if other audience members bring it to your attention, or if instructed to do so by a staff member.
To avoid causing inconvenience to those seated behind you, please fold up your parasols 5 minutes before the performance begins.

3. Learn About Items That Can Help Reduce the Risk of Heat Stroke

Wearing a hat or using a towel to block the sun’s rays is also effective.
Wearing breathable, moisture-wicking clothing with an open collar and cuffs is also an effective way to lower your body temperature.
Using a mini fan or similar device to create a breeze is also effective.

At the Tokyo venue, to help with salt replenishment, Qoo10 is providing “Koda Shoten Salt and Brown Sugar Tablets” . The tablets will be distributed at the entrance on the Marine Stadium side.
Supplies are limited. Distribution will end once the allocated quantity has been reached.

In addition to official merchandise such as caps, bucket hats, cooling towels, and hooded towels, please be sure to take advantage of other heat-relief items available at the booths around the perimeter of Marine Stadium in Tokyo, such as climate-controlled clothing (FZN・Fūjin Climate-Controlled Suits).

4. Use the water stations

At the Tokyo venue, water stations have been set up at three locations around the perimeter of Marine Stadium, as well as outside Halls 2 and 8 of Makuhari Messe.

At the Osaka venue, with the cooperation of OSG Corporation—which set up and operated water stations at the Osaka-Kansai Expo site— we will be setting up water stations (free water stations). To help prevent heatstroke at the venue and reduce our environmental impact, please be sure to bring your own reusable water bottle or an empty bottle.

5. If you notice any changes in how you feel, go to the first-aid station immediately.

Heatstroke becomes more severe the longer it goes untreated.
If you feel unwell, please go to the first-aid station immediately.
First-aid staff make regular rounds, so please let them know right away if you need assistance.
We will provide appropriate treatment tailored to your condition, not limited to heatstroke.
If staff determine that you are clearly suspected of having heatstroke, they may escort you to the first-aid station.
In that case, please follow the staff’s instructions.
In the unlikely event that an ambulance is needed, please do not call for one yourself; instead, notify a nearby staff member.
The event organizers will coordinate with the emergency medical services.
We ask for your cooperation to ensure smooth coordination with the emergency medical services.

6. Other Heatstroke Prevention Measures

We regularly spray water in the outdoor areas and on the outdoor stage.
If you feel unwell, cooling your body can be effective.
It is said that the best way to cool your body effectively is to cool your neck, armpits, and groin.
To maintain the stamina needed to enjoy the festival for an extended period, please get plenty of sleep and eat a hearty breakfast before arriving.
Please absolutely refrain from waiting in line near the venue late at night before the event or even earlier.
Not only does this cause a nuisance to nearby residents, but it also significantly depletes your stamina and increases the risk of heatstroke.
Preventive items (such as cooling patches, hats, and towels) are available for purchase at the information desk and merchandise booths, so please feel free to take advantage of them.

Be sure to check the location of the rest areas inside the venue on the area map beforehand!
